Cancer and a social responsability

The fact of the matter is that Cancer will, unfortunatly, effect each of us either directly (1 in 3) or indirectly at some point in our lives and as the years go by the chance of this happening is every increasing.  It is a sobering thought when you look around at yoursefl and your loved ones and do the maths.  There is no escaping that this ugly, and maliscous disease is in our society.

But there is a lot we can do to prevent/reduce the chances of it effecting us and our loves ones.  Research around the world from a wide range of organisations, (this is one of my favourites) is developing drugs and treatments to tackle the variety of Cancer forms.  Starting at home we can also do a great deal to help, with lifestyle, diet and awarness of the preventable Cancers.

It does concern me the growing and unchecked trends surrounding tanning salons.  The direct links with UV are well documented, with the effects known to be long term and impacting well after the tan has faded from memory.  I do wonder if we have a responsability to tackle this issue.

I’m wondering what poeple think about tanning salons and the links to skin Cancer? Should this be allowed to continue?

  1. I totally agree; if we learn ways to prevent different cancers, then we should be well on the way to stopping it altogether. Great post and I look forward to sharing more with you:)
